Flying Sites

Our prime flying areas are located in S. County, near the Richmond airstrip.

The Perreault  farm is bordered by Route 2 ( N41º28.516', W071º36.774' )and Heaton Orchard Rd., on the south side of Route 2, is the Bouchard farm  ( N41º28.241', W071º36.909' )

All sites are privately owned  turf farms, and we must always use good common sense when  flying at them. Refrain from parking vehicles on the harvestable grass; don't walk or drive in newly plowed  & planted fields; and if the fields are really wet, remember even a foot print can harm the crop.

Channels used by members at turf farms :

Slope Sites in RI

Two popular sites are utilized by local slopers in the state.

Both are located in Southern RI and and catch either NW or SW  winds coming off of Narragansett  Bay. Both maps, show both sites;  ( map 1; map 2 )

Ft. Wetherill State Park, in Jamestown ( N41º28.698', W071º22.053' ) favors a SW wind, and provides better lift in light wind conditions, but it's a good idea to have your bird outfitted with an audio locator due to thick brush surrounding the postage stamp landing area.

Ft. Adams State Park in Newport ( N41º28.433', W071º20.590' ) depends upon a NW breeze, provides a large grassy area to land on , unless you end up in the overgrown old fort area, pictured below.
